Constantine: To Hell and Back Again

I just got off the phone with former beauty queen Peachy Veneracion who had a very memorable experience with Constantine (not the movie about the fallen angel, of American Idol silly). She was still mad (considering it's almost a week since he left) after Constantine rebuffed her when she asked to have a picture taken with him at a bar in Makati.

You see, Peachy was a die-hard fan of Constantine. In fact she kept voting and campaigning for him in American Idol when she was in the States. So there he was, the Greek God of an American Idol just a few tables away in the same bar she was at. What would you do? Of course she approached her ex-idol, told him, "I'm so glad to meet you, you are my idol. Can we have our picture taken?" But like a vampire who saw light, he suddenly covered his face and refused Peachy's kind request.

What's a few seconds of smile, click, click? Besides it was just her and not a horde of screaming fans. And who could refuse the beauteous Peachy Veneracion? I told Peachy not to sweat it, since she's not alone (check my previous post on Constantine and Amiel Martin Cabanlig's story).

It's always sad when you admire somebody so much and end up getting disappointed when you meet them in person. Sometimes, it's better to just have this fantasy about them in our heads rather than having the stark reality stare you in the face.

it's weird that you made a new article considering that you received many comments opposing your previous blog entry.

anyway, the guy needs a break. he should be enjoying his privacy during the time that he was in the bar. of course, if i were peachy, i'd be disappointed too but there's a time for everything. it just so happened that the time when he was having a nice break while in a bar was not the right time for constantine to get his autograph and picture taken. if i had known peachy right away, i'd suggest her to make some extra effort in falling in line with the other fans to buy a KQ album just to get the precious signature of constantine. that was how the game worked. :)

I guess I don't really think it is wrong for Constantine to be allowed to have a few moments of downtime alone. Peachy sounds like she might be a bit of a celebrity herself, so perhaps she does understand.

I am sorry she had that experience, but I hope she is able to look at the larger picture and see how gracious, welcoming and accommodating the other 99% of the time.

And, like my momma said, there are always two sides to the story.

"Nakakatawa tayo pilipino...nagsisiraaan."

I tried to post this there...but had to register

can you post this??

"That is not at all what happened. I was so unbelievably gracious with
the
fans. Who are some of the best in the world by the way. I took
millions of
photos with everyone. If my crew turned someone away it was because I
wasn't looking. The security was very tight. I remember sitting
outside
the club. (if it is the same place) Outdoor seating and an upstairs
area
inside? I was with Riko (bodyguard), who is very protective, he was
sitting
with me. My Production Manager for the shows, Mals. Her friend and
one
other bodyguard standing. Some people were just snapping pictures in my
face. I don't really mind but the people I was with did so we moved
inside.
That was it. A pretty girl came up to me and asked for a picture an
I
turned her down? Yeah right!! NOT! I am so not like that...

Nakakaloka nman itong si Anonymous..copy, paste lang ata ang alam. Well Nina, I admire you.. talagang ganun ang life. You can't please everybody.

You capitalized too much on the fact that there's a single peachy who was not able to get con's signature and pic with him. That would not make him a very bad person as you sensed he is and he cannot simply please everyone. And don't discount the HUNDREDS of people who were able to get his signature and picture taken. You might want to include that important detail in your next article!

You know Nina, if only you had the time to know who Constantine really is, you must have written a very nice article about him just like what you did to Mig. I'm just disappointed that you bashed Constantine behind his back, not knowing any single detail about him, using your baseless and fabricated comments. What happened to fair journalism? Oh well, who says life is fair, anyway? Although, Constantine is a human being, thus, he's susceptible to make mistakes...well, who is perfect, anyway? Obviously, not you!

By the way, amore...ang mga anonymous dito ay hindi lang copy and paste alam gawin. Marunong din kameng mag-isip ng mahusay, di gaya mo. Wala ka man lang nasabing substantial.

to those people who say that we Constantine supporters are blind, or that other kind of crap, well at least we have valid reasons to support him. just as you do NOT have any basis to say that "buti nalang at di siya nanalo".

my question to you is, what does winning or losing have to do with a person being kind or not?

Constantine was very kind and gracious to us and was the total opposite of what Ms. Corpuz describes. so i'm sorry if you refuse to open your eyes, but this is coming from a person who has actually met constantine as well. only i did not pass judgment on him according to what he was wearing or the jokes he made.

plus, Niña, i'm pretty sure that if you were the one in Constantine's shoes, relaxing after a 14-hour flight, arriving at barely morning, being whisked off to do interviews, showing up for a tree-lighting ceremony and singing here and there, i'm pretty sure even you wouldn't have wanted to be disturbed, no matter how handsome or rich the person was.

i apologize if i have offended you in any way, Niña, and i do hope that Constantine did not offend you in any way either (which i'm sure he didn't), and that showed you exactly how mature he is, the way he reacted.

P.S. YES, the response you got is legit. it IS from Constantine himself.
